Cherry (vegan) jell-o

unlike a lot of American kids, I never had Jell-o growing up since I was raised vegetarian (Jell-o, as you probably know, is made from protein deriving from animal bones). I found a box of "Cherry Jel Dessert" at the Park Slope Food Co-op for 80 cents (cheaper than the omnivore's name brand!). It was ready after about an hour and a half in the fridge. No icky chemicals, either. The texture is pretty foreign to me still, but it's quite tasty and a perfect summer afternoon snack!

Matthew waxing nostalgic about the good old days of the Co-op. A few stats if you're interested: the Co-op sells 1 ton of broccoli and 4 tons of bananas per week. We have 13,000 members and have $28 million in annual sales.
